Most times, you will need to have a permit to install a 10×32 shed, since a 10×32 shed is over 320 square feet. However, it’s important to check with the local government to confirm any specific regulations or requirements before installing a shed of any size.
If you live in North Dakota, check out our guide to shed permits in North Dakota.
A 10×32 shed foundation typically requires approximately 5.2 cubic yards of gravel. Since we recommend making your foundation a foot longer and wider than the shed on all sides, you will need a pad that measures 12×34. We also recommend a depth of at least 4″.
Please note that these calculations will only work if your site is level. If you are installing your shed on a slope, more gravel will be required. For more site prep information, check out our site prep page.
The total footprint of a 10×32 shed is 320 square feet. However, it’s important to note that the usable interior space will be slightly less than this due to the thickness of the walls.
To calculate the usable floor space, subtract approximately 5″ from each side of the interior dimensions. This accounts for the wall studs (3.5″) and the sheathing and siding on the outside (up to 1.5″).
Thus, to perform the calculation, you should multiply 9 feet 7 inches by 31 feet 7 inches, yielding an estimated interior space of approximately 279.5 square feet.
