Its affordability adds to its appeal, making it a practical choice for those seeking budget-friendly storage solutions.
The Quaker shed features a beautiful A-frame design with an offset roofline, providing extra overhang on the front of the building. This unique design profile instantly upgrades the style of your backyard.
The studio shed, also known as the modern shed, comes with a single-slope roof. It’s an ideal choice for those who prefer a modern style and is perfect for specialized uses like backyard offices, man caves, art studios, she sheds, and more!
In most areas, you will need a permit to install a 12×14 shed since a 12×14 shed exceeds 168 square feet. However, it’s crucial to verify any specific regulations or requirements with local authorities before erecting a shed of any size.

Establishing a foundation for 12×14 sheds typically means you’ll need around 2.8 cubic yards of gravel. We recommend extending the foundation’s dimensions by a foot on all sides compared to the shed’s size. Thus, you’ll need a pad measuring 14×16. We advise a depth of at least 4″.
Please note that these calculations will only work if your site is level. If you are installing your shed on a slope, more gravel will be required. For more site prep information, check out our site prep page.
The overall footprint of 12×14 sheds is 168 square feet. However, bear in mind that the usable interior space will be slightly less due to wall thickness.
To calculate the usable floor space, subtract roughly 5″ from each side of the interior dimensions. This accounts for wall studs (3.5″) and exterior sheathing and siding (up to 1.5″).
Hence, for the calculation, multiply 11 ft 7 in by 13 ft 7 in, yielding an estimated interior space of approximately 143.5 square feet.
