The classic shed is similar to the ranch shed but features a steeper roof pitch. This design enhances the shed’s aesthetics and allows for additional space for a loft or a roof dormer, bringing in natural light. The classic shed is perfect for she sheds, home art studios, man caves and more.
The low barn shed maintains the classic look of the high barn but with lower sidewalls. This shed is perfect for storing all your gardening tools and keeping other garage clutter out of sight at an affordable cost.
The Quaker shed is a beautiful A-frame shed with an offset roofline, providing extra overhang on the front of the building. This popular design will take your property to the next level with its usability and unique style.
The studio, or modern shed, features a single-slope roof. This model is popular for specialized uses like backyard offices, man caves, art studios, she sheds, and more. If you’d like a shed, but want something modern, this is the shed for you.
The 10×16 Economy shed represents our most affordable shed line. While these sheds do not include all the premium features of our main sheds, they are still built to last for a long time. You can find more details about our economy sheds on our economy shed page.
Generally speaking, you should have a permit to install a 10×16 shed. Since 10×16 sheds are over 160 square feet, it will often meet the requirement of needing a permit. However, it’s important to check with the local government to confirm any specific regulations or requirements before installing a shed of any size.
If you live in North Dakota, check out our guide to shed permits in North Dakota.
A 10×16 shed foundation typically requires approximately 2.7 cubic yards of gravel. Since we recommend making your foundation a foot longer and wider than the shed on all sides, you will need a pad that measures 12×18. We also recommend a depth of at least 4″.
Please note that these calculations will only work if your site is level. If you are installing your shed on a slope, more gravel will be required. For more site prep information, check out our site prep page.
The total footprint of a 10×16 shed is 160 square feet. However, it’s important to note that the usable interior space will be slightly less than this due to the thickness of the walls.
To calculate the usable floor space, subtract approximately 5″ from each side of the interior dimensions. This accounts for the wall studs (3.5″) and the sheathing and siding on the outside (up to 1.5″).
Thus, to perform the calculation you should multiply 9 feet 7 inches by 15 feet 7 inches, yielding an estimated interior space of approximately 135.5 Square Feet.
