COMMON QUESTIONS ABOUT 10X32 SHEDS

DO I NEED A PERMIT FOR A 10X32 SHED?

Most times, you will need to have a permit to install a 10×32 shed, since a 10×32 shed is over 120 square feet. However, it’s important to check with the local government to confirm any specific regulations or requirements before installing a shed of any size.

If you live in North Dakota, please check out our shed permit guide for that state.

HOW MUCH GRAVEL DO I NEED FOR A 10X32 SHED FOUNDATION?

A 10×32 shed foundation typically requires approximately 5.2 cubic yards of gravel. Since we recommend making your foundation a foot longer and wider than the shed on all sides, you will need a pad that measures 12×34. We also recommend a depth of at least 4″. These calculations assume that your site is level. If you are installing the shed on a slope, you may need more gravel. For more information on site preparation, please refer to our site prep page.

HOW MANY SQUARE FEET IS A 10X32 SHED?

The total footprint of a 10×32 shed is 320 square feet. However, it’s important to note that the usable interior space will be slightly less than this due to the thickness of the walls.

To calculate the usable floor space, subtract approximately 5″ from each side of the interior dimensions. This accounts for the wall studs (3.5″) and the sheathing and siding on the outside (up to 1.5″).

Thus, to perform the calculation, you should multiply 9 feet 7 inches by 31 feet 7 inches, yielding an estimated interior space of approximately 279.5 square feet.
